Levelling Interior Sloped Concrete Floor
Got a customer with a 17'x 14' bedroom that was presumably once a concrete carport or patio. Anyhow, it has about a 4" slope in the 17' direction. She wants it levelled and I'm thinking of cutting wedges out of 2x6 and attaching them to the concrete. Then sub and finish.
Question is, how to attach? Ramset the thin end and nail the thick end to the walls and let the rest float? Ramset 1x4 across and toe-nail the wedges? Glue? Bolts? Brackets? Hopes? Dreams? Cleared Checks? Interested in all comments regarding this.

Re: Levelling Interior Sloped Concrete Floor
I was going to suggest self leveling floor leveller, you need a little more than a lot to do that. Anyways, I would use you 2x6 (P.T.) and scribe/rip it down, use cut pieces and fasten them (Tapcons are fine) on there flat to the existing floor and attach your new levelled wood to it. As a suggestion, before placing down the sub-floor fill the void with EPS to keep the toes a little warmer.

Re: Levelling Interior Sloped Concrete Floor
Was it originally sloped for drainage?

Re: Levelling Interior Sloped Concrete Floor
Unfortunately the ceiling is NOT high, so I'm concerned with raising the floor too much. Want to keep it as low profile as possible.
Don't know what the space was originally, could have been a car port, though it's in a strange place relative to the house for that, or a patio, sloped for drainage.

Re: Levelling Interior Sloped Concrete Floor
Is there a reason you don't float it out with lightweight concrete?
Seen it done 2nd story commercial for sound/fireproofing. Neato! r |

Re: Levelling Interior Sloped Concrete Floor
Thanks for the input, everyone...did that part of the job. Scribed wedges to the concrete, attached them to the walls where I could, ramset them down where they were thin enough and ramset cleats beside them where they were too thick for a nail to penetrate the conc. Put 5/8 t&g over them, glued it and nailed where I could, ramset where the wedges were too thin. Lot of shots. Voila, flat level floor ready for engineered floater.
