Lets Hear Some Ideas?

My tub looks about half asss, acceptable, but in need of new with a bath remod. No shower, just a tub. I want to put in a shower, however at the time, I have other things to do and not ready to move on the bath remod.

I made a suggestion to Judy about Vinyl siding for a tub surround. Goes up easy, comes down easy, plenty of cut waist so hardly no cost and the showers in quick. Then when I pull the tub in the remod I can choose a Finnish product.

Well this is going over like a jumbo jet with no gas. We argue for about 20 minutes every time the subject comes up.

Guys I'm running out of ideas here, how about some help.

What can I use for a tub surround that would accomplish my task, quick and cheap, and still make Judy happy, or at least make her STFU? <-----Judy's reading along.

Bob

Bob, you may want to look at vinyl flooring, it was popular in yachts years ago.

use the textured vinyl wall board you see in commercial kitchens and in public bathrooms. comes in 4x8 sheets, is about 1/4 inch thick, cost about 30-35 bucks per and is seamable using available hardware...agent orange and blowes both carry it, around here anyway.

hope you like white cause thats all i've ever seen it in....good luck!

I was wondering who would be the first to punch the clown and how long it would take. My questions are now answered.

I've seen quick and dirty tub surrounds built out of plastic wall liner and with Marlite. The wall liner lasts quite a while, but the Marlite only lasts a few years.

Double sided tape, and bisqueen is out of the budget? You can offer her clear or black...let her make the color descion so she feels like she contributing.

Seriously though, you know as well as the rest of us, you "plan" on remedying it soon and just want a temp fix....I've been to 4 contractors houses in 2 years after their wives called to do a project "they'd get to" LMAO!!! Think with your situation, I'd spend the $75-80 and install the FRP board for know. You can even install it with the plastic buttons/rivets instead of gluing it to the walls so it'll come down easier when you "get to it" and for the record it does also come in grey and cream...not just white.

How about one of those clear plastic 'portable closets', - - just cut out the floor and cut a slit for the shower arm, - - maybe a few 'breather' holes, - - hang it in place and you're done.

Waterproof, sanitary, sexy - - what more could you ask for??

You can buy a tub surround for $39.00. If that's out of your budget Bob, I would just invest in a gallon of paint.
