Question

How Do You Deal With Creasote Framing?

Hello to all,
I am dealing with a house built in 1934 that has had from what I can tell most of the sub framing treated with creasote or a similar product. It gives off a nasty odor and is not healthy to breathe. It appears as if someone has tried to address the issue by painting all of it. This did not work as it still gives off a heavy odor. I have been told that there are certain primers that can be used to seal them, can anyone advise?
