Home Theater

Hello everyone.I just started a hometheater installation business in Florida. I am looking to find any contractors that are looking to offer pre wiring for their customers as a build option.

I'm curious what a home theater prewire consists of? Seems like it would be out of date in a hurry if not used. Or no? I've installed empty 2" conduits from/to strategic locations for future equipment racks and home theater stuff, but I've never been asked to prewire for one. Seems like empty pipe is the thing to do, but I guess you do something else. Could you go into that a little?

Re: Home Theater

prewiring consists of
1. Running wire in wall and celing for surround sound in one room.
2. Wiring for mulit room systems indoor and outdoor.
3. installing volume controls, infared repeaters, speaker selectors ect.
4. Also installing speakers and hardware before completion of house.
5. and anything else that has to do with sound.
Also seeing that hometheater is on the rise and sales is projected to be in the billions this year ( according to some hometheater mags ), and with the growth of high definition, it will be a hot item.

Re: Home Theater

If I were you I would hit the next new subdivision and pitch this idea to the builder/developer.
They could add it in as an option for their customers. Just more bells and whistles for them to offer.
That’s my 2¢
