Hilti 10mm Bore - Whats It For?

Does anyone know the purpose of a 10mm bore in a Hilti gun. I bought a used A41I and it came with the 10mm - I've since replaced it with an 8mm. The 8mm is what I use to drive nails into concrete. I'm sure the 10mm has an application, but I know its not for driving nails because they don't 'seat' themselves in the gun.

After perusing Hilti's website the 10mm looks to be for bigger nails than what you are using. I have a small Ramset that won't take bigger nails than anything I need. Probably for fastening steel to concrete, or steel to steel.

I just talked with a Hilti rep at the local Home Depot. He showed me what the 10mm bore is for. It's shoots 10mm threaded studs directly into concrete or steel.

Be glad you have it. If you use it just once you will ask "How did I live without this thing?"

Just don't ever shoot a post-stressed slab with it. Hit a cable and you could be in for some expensive repairs.

There are different types of pins and studs that use the 10mm. Your standard is 8mm pin, which is for most applications and majority of tools use. Someone said ramset? Doesn't even compete. If you want powder actuated Hilti is the best, no one is even close to second. You would be amazed at what they have for shooting powder actuated
