Foundation Type
I have an addition project that has a portion of the addition connecting two buildings (the main house and the detached garage). The main house is walk out basement; the detached garage is above grade monlithic. the space is Ten feet narrow. The customer does not want a crawl space between the buildings. By the way the lot is 10% grade/slope.
What is the best foundation between these buildings. Above grade monilithic seems to be the best for structural integrity; but the trench on the main house side would have to be dug out to the footer of the main house (becase of the drain tile; that is currently down 6 feet under ground). A stem wall comes to mind but that would be the same cast as monolithic? Any thoughts? |

Re: Foundation Type
I would use packing peanuts or bubble wrap.
