Foundation Cement

Anyone ever hear of pushing plastic up on wet foundation cement. I have a customer asking me to for extra seal.

Input?

Bob

Re: Foundation Cement

I've heard of putting plastic onto fresh foundation tar, actually have done it years ago. Don't bother any more, lets face it the plastic ends up being ripped anyhow as soon as a rock hits it. Now a days we have a company come in and spray the foundations ( Watchdog Product) good warranty with it,

Re: Foundation Cement

How is the foundation going to be wet still ???

Anyway, on my brothers house, we layed up some polyethylene plastic on the walls and stapled it to the deck. I carefully backfilled it to prevent any rocks from tearing it. IDK if it will work or not, but it can't hurt.

Re: Foundation Cement

Use a tar-based system and the Owens Corning pink board. Insulates and protects.

Re: Foundation Cement

Thanks fellas.

It just seems to me it might be something that could dam the water to the wall and create a problem rather than solve it. Just a guess.

However realizing pressure is the big adversary in foundation water failure, maybe I'm stretching my brain too much.

Re: Foundation Cement

Here in CT,

Any foundation with a basement needs to be water proofed...tar then covered with a 6 mil poly w/1' lap is acceptable....For frost wall type foundations, damp proof only is needed, this is just a tar coating....
