Epoxy Basement Floor Coatings???

Hello,

I am working on a new home now. Basement floors will be poured this week.

Have you guys ever used the Epoxy floor coating kits that can be purchased from the big box stores. Do they hold up? Is the old standard concrete sealer better?

Thanks,
Kermmonk

Re: Epoxy Basement Floor Coatings???

I used the HD brand Behr AcrylicEpoxy to coat some old stained exterior concrete at a friends house back in March, took two coats, seems to work, but I'm not a painter or epoxy guy. So who wants to hit me for using this product?

I have never used the Big Box stores paints, unless a customer has to have it. we have always used the two part epoxy's from BM or SW or Pittsburgh. when putting down epoxy you want to make sure the floor is dry and clean any little bit of dirt or water can screw things up, we also use have used Floor and Deck enamel for basement, Good luck there are so many products for floors now a days.

Re: Epoxy Basement Floor Coatings???

Hey guys,

Basement was poured today. Finishers recommend I use Cure and Seal instead of epoxy. They recommended sealing within two days.

I was thinking of using the Acid stain and then the Cure and Seal over top of that. What do the experts think?

I did not think you were supposed to use anything over the top of acid stain
