Re: Construction Schedule Software

You can set up a Project server which comes with a web-based component. But that would probably blow your IT budget.

Re: Construction Schedule Software

Punch List Manager is a web based program that allows you to control all of your subs under one forum. We are a glass business so we deal alot with warranty work for large builders and it allows us to give them access codes to log in and see the progress of their lots at any time along with digital photos of the projects. They can also submit any schedule changes or view aging reports on our progress with their work. I am a glass house (no punt intended) as far as they are concerned.

Re: Construction Schedule Software

MS Project Server has a web access for your projects from the field. You can get it hosted for around $40 per user (we are in a trial of it with one company now.) Read the fine print, as we actually pay $175 a month PLUS a minimum of 5 users. VERY cheap compared to $15K for MS Project Server software alone. While customers cannot login, we tried buildertrend and it just wasn't professional enough for the meat of the job.

MS Project Server links with Xactimate, exporting the hours and dependencies automatically. I am reading through for advice on how to track materials cost, and become more efficient with my time using MS Project in general, so keep it coming.

Go to google and type "hosted Microsoft Project Server." for a list of hosting companies.

We do the same with our exchange and have Blackberrys and Outlook for the management side of our operation for the past seven years (our own email addresses with our domain name and all of the little bells and whistles of fortune 500 companies on exchange (like shared calendars, tasks, collaberation, etc...) for only about $9/user per month.

Re: Construction Schedule Software

there is a couple of great programs - check out www.sourceforge.net. and hotscripts.com . Pro project comes to mind. It is web based and has lots of features. If you are not web savvy - it would be worth while contacting a database designer. Find out what your ISP will support. I would go to the database designer first. Our system is completely web based. I wrote ours in MYSQL and Cold fusion. I would recommend you look at PHP and MYSQL as your application programs. Add that with a good calendar program and you should have a robust system.

Best of luck - or contact me and I'll try to give you some suggestions.
