Concrete Slab Control Joint.

Ok I'm used to using a groover when it's wet or a saw when it's dry but today I saw a control joint that was hairline, like it was cut with some kind of laser. What was I looking at? Thanks!!

Maybe a "cold joint"?
Just a construction joint
between two separate pours?

Maybe a blind seam or a softcut with a 1/16th inch blade

Yeah maybe blind seam but I'm not sure what that is....

I looked again at this slab and it looks like there may be something set before the pour and slightly below the surface. It just looks like hairline cracks, 10 ft apart, that are perfectly straight. ...

Of course in this part of the country pools are not real common so we don't get to see the fancy slab work. I was down in florida and saw some laced concrete and was thinking that laced is really nice but would probably not hold up to good in the "cooler" climates.

Anyway, I've done tons of control joints in my younger days and am always impressed when I see one better than mine.

Re: Concrete Slab Control Joint.

I saw guys up in oregon cut a groove in a garage floor with a groover, then fill it back in with cream during the finishing process. About a month later it would crack staight as an arrow up that groove line.

You can also get this in a key way configuration. A little more of a pain but if installed properly, helps with the screed process. gene
