Can Anyone Give Advice About Getting Bonded With Past Due Child Support Issues?..

I am trying to get a construction bond for my new hardwood flooring business (I have been in the field for over 19 years and had my own company for 9 years) due to an ugly divorce, and having to pay $2750.00 per month in child support- I fell behind on some of the payments ( I have been making child support payments and I am in the process of modification- because $2750.00 is ridiculous) and now can't get a the bond because of past due child support. Does anyone know of any options I might have? Or any companies that will bond someone with past due child support? Thank you

You're not gonna like this... but the only advise you should be given is to pay your child support, or get it modified and pay the back child support. Until you do, life may be difficult. You're lucky if you get to keep your license. In some states if you fall behind they take away all state issued licenses (drivers, contracting, boat etc...)

I'd suggest talking to someone in your local child support services department to try to renegotiate the amount you owe in child support and also get your future payments lowered. explain to them that without your license you can't work and then they definitely won't be getting the money you're trying to contribute.

I'd use a different lawyer than the one who agreed to that amount.

At least she's happy!!

back support and contractors bond...

Thank you for your comments and advice... currently I am in the process of modification and they have set my child support to $400 while I am trying to get the business started. I only have two children...that I am paying support to. I have been paying the support, I just haven't been paying the $2750... I think I have found a way around "me" getting bonded.. and it looks like I will be able to get this business started after all.. thank you for your replies..
