Re: Basement Under Garage
Have done that before, in mortuaries...will you be needing the casket lift and doors?

Re: Basement Under Garage
Have done those plenty of times, there called the Boys room, great for pool tables, wet bar, darts and even a brass pole once. Best way I found to do them was to use CoreSlab, or prestressed hollow core slabs. Needs engineer design, it installs flat on my ICF walls and when you pour the cap you add the necessary slope to the garage floor at that time. This is well worth the money.

Re: Basement Under Garage
I've done a couple houses with rooms under the garage, generally the engineer has called for 12" thick steel reinforced foundation walls on all four sides, and flexicore pre engineered concrete slabs for the garage floor, with the flexicore bolted directly to the foundation.

Re: Basement Under Garage
One funeral home was pre cast, two were cast in place pan slabs. Those two were three...er "car" arrangements, 3 - 9' doors.

Re: Basement Under Garage
Lots of homes done that way in my area. They even advertise for the product on the radio. Called "Span Decks" for slang, but that might be one manufacturer's name. Here you go:

Re: Basement Under Garage
I've done a million of these here in utah. The company that I use here that makes the precast slabs to install right on top of your foundation is called Eagle Precast. www.eagleprecast.com They have a lot of tech info on their website about the product. You can also check out this link to see an article I wrote several years ago for JLC about the topic. http://www.jlconline.com/cgi-bin/jlc.../View/0206inst

Re: Basement Under Garage
Thanks fellows for the quick reply. Looks like I will be doing a lot of research. Appreciate the web sites you have recommended, will be looking into them. I got the idea from a model I visited a few months ago but no one was available to give me any answers and the building wasn't available. So again thanks for the replys.
