Window Problem

Building my family a new house. It has a walkout basement. The construction is stick framed, with OSB sheeting, then Tyvek house wrap and brick. During construction the construction process the OSB got wet a few times and it has swelled causing it to bow between the 2x6 basement studs. This in turn has caused the vinyl window frames to bow inward towards the sliding panes and they have become difficult to open and close.

Photos at newhouse.8k.com

The basement has been dryed in for 4 months, but and the OSB is still bowed between studs. I have drilled holes in the OSB to help it get a little air movement. Could I drive some 2x6 boards horizontally between the studs at the top and bottom of the window to help spread the window and release some of the pressure on the window???

Any other suggestions?

Re: Window Problem

Did you leave room for expansion between the sheets when you applied them? This actually might be your problem rather than "The OSB got wet." Do you already have the brick on or can you still get at the OSB?

Re: Window Problem

We did leave some room for expansion between the sheets when applied. The brick is on, and the only side of the OSB I can get to is the backside. The OSB did get wet a few times before the roof was on.

Re: Window Problem

How did you install the windows? Are they nailed with nail fins? Are there jamb screws through the jambs?
