are the nail holes the same size as a 12'6 panel , u only have about a inch of travel still , and that size panel has a lot of expansion .doesnt matter if pockets are 2 in are the nail holes 2 in slots ? creates alot of bubbles if you get alot of sun on a side !

what does manufacture suggest ? they made the deep pockets for some reason ,

Your a little confused it seems about how vinyl reacts to heat and cold. This isnt in any installation manual but the 20 ft - 40 ft lenghts of siding have to be doubled nailed in a nail slot some where in the middle of the panel to control expansion. The panel will expand from the double nailed area in the center out to each end. The panel will seem as though it will not move freely as the center is nailed to prevent movement. Most of the polymer type sidings have a single nail hole incorporated into the panel to control movement. Wolverine made a 40 ft panel that really looked nice but shipping made it not worth the trouble.

Thanks Patrick. How's the install compared to vinyl or steel? How's the pricing?

Picture, rabitted cedar clap board with a vinyl siding nail flange! There is a neat stainless spike plate that you nail on the house where there is a seam and then you hit the siding over the plate and the spikes dig into the back of it to hold the panel. Also look at the corners the way they form fit to the courses. Only sucky thing, is there is VERY LITTLE room for play if you are trying to fix a screwed up wall or soffit line. Colors are nice finish is nice, new product though, was introduced spring of 2007 price wise, I would say middle ground between vinyl shakes, and pre finished hardi board.

Just a sidenote*
Isn't it funny how no matter what website or other advertisement you see the "brand name" ticks all the boxes? Everything is perfect and caters to all our needs... "Oh I think I'll go with this one, it looks awesome!." Wait nevermind.... Crock 'O' Shisa

not confused installed it on many houses and seen alot of effects.i dont used the 35 and 40 'ft panels , but i understand that by nailing it in center limits and controls the movement , was never stated before , just like cedar impressions nailed in center to limit movement ,thanks

Re: Why Does Triple 3" Look Like Crap?

check out the xl 29' elimanator ! don't know how good this stuff is but the slide bar on the top should take care of any sagging.and control the expention and contraction part. also they screw it up rather than nail it up.
they say if they're not screwing up your siding then they are screwing up your siding.
drop in insulated panel tho i don't like that and always a 2 man install on a piece so i don't like that much either.

wow I guess they came back to earth. As a supplier we were paying $400 + per square for this when it came out. The guy who created the stuff promised to do better to get jobs out there. Well I had a 70 square job all but sold if we could work the price out, he offered 5% off

Regardless I like the product but the price was out of hand.

Kyle, what do you think of the product long term? I love the idea, but I am really nervous to try and sell it. Ive met with all the reps and they talk it up and down, they actually make the product not to far from where I live. They seem like kinda a grass routes company. They need to get bought out by plygem or something so it becomes a reasonable alternative to vinyl.

I really like it, I think installed properly it will be a winner. The company is well funded and will back up issues too IMO. I've met the president on a few occasions. Smart guy, wants to be involved. One thing I don't like is the idea of trying to wiggle the little tounge into the groove on a long run of a wavy wall. The accessories are awesome, the corner and J with the profile cut out look great. I hope I can find a customer to run with this product. That being said, the wholesaler we bought this from just dropped it due to low sales and they brought in Hardiplank now. I'm sure Hardi told them to lose it or else.

Its a tough product to try, due to the high price tag. But I think the right company in the right area could suceed with it.
