Just wondering how other window/door specialists have their trucks setup. And what kind of truck you're using.
I've got 2 setups:
1. 14' E350 box truck with bench/shelves and break setup inside.
2. P/u with short bed and crew cab pulling 6'x10' dump trailer. P/u has retrax hard tractable cover. Break is mounted on hooks on outside of trailer walls.

We also use a 14' E350 with a pass through so we can slide a 32" ladder inside. One side of the truck is an empty wall where we can strap sheet goods or windows. We have some shelfs on the other side and toward the front. Our brake stays on the floor of the truck under the shelves. When we need it we just slide it out and set one end on the back of the truck and the other on a saw horse.

Interesting. Do you have the need to pull the break out on a daily basis? I use mine on almost every job.
We use to use it daily but lately our window business has been a little slow.. Pulling it out and setting it up only takes 5 minutes. The way our truck is set ujp we really dont have room to keep the brake setup in the truck. Between shelves on one side, then ladders in the middle and windows strapped in on the other side there just isnt room.

Where do you store your trailer? I'd be nervous about theft....My primary setup is mounted in a 14' enclosed trailer.

sivlerado 1500 extended cab long bed with ladder rack, hauling 20' cargomate enclosed trailer with a table on one side for cutting metal, brake mounted on the other, shelves around. Plenty of room to haul windows. I can fit about 30 or so normal sized DH's. Hell we even have a heater for the winter. Ladders under the table, however we rarely ever use a extension ladder, everything above ground level gets done from inside, unless its a picture window. Garbage goes into back of truck. Going to upgrade to a 3/4 ton crew cab soon.

sounds like a great setup. What does the trailer weigh with tools? How much did it cost new?
As far as weight, it's not enough to be an issue anywhere. Trailer cost around $4000 brand new 8 years ago. All the tables and shelves I built. Don't forget the appropriate calendar. Here's some pics. A bit messy right now. The siding guys mount a radial arm saw on the back end of the table to cut soffit panels. Makes it a snap, but I don't do enough S & F to make it worth my while.
