Vinyl Window Help
I have a prospective client wanting vinyl replacement windows. The thing is they have an older house with very nice trim and the trim is a very dark brown kind of like a dark walnut. My initial thought was to use a vinyl window with dark colored stained like interior but have only been able to find cherry as the darkest available from my normal suppliers. It just is not dark enough. I would like to find a darker stained style vinyl window or a dark painted interior/white exterior. I am looking for a window company that would have these to offer. I am in the midwest near Columbia MO. Any help appreciated.
Wood windows are not an option. Thank-you, Dave C

Re: Vinyl Window Help
Thermal Industries makes a pretty nice vinyl replacement window with a stainable wood interior, the grids can be stained too. (Altho I have to say the last time I used these we had some trouble with the grids falling apart during the staining lol)
There are also alot of companies that offer wood grain interior, its possible you may find something closer by doing some searching on the web |

Re: Vinyl Window Help
I'm not sure how dark you need to go, but in my experience I've never seen anything darker than a cherry or dark oak. It would be nice if someone came out with a mahogany or something, but I've not seen it yet. I'm guessing you can't sell them on a "contrasting" color?

I think I'll have to find some painted interiors like dark brown or something. Dave

Re: Vinyl Window Help
I've always stayed away from dark brown vinyl; it could possibly lead to vinyl profile heat distortion. Lighter colors such as almond or white are designed to perform just fine.
For dark brown, you may wish to consider a fiberglass window. They are available in dark colors, do not experience the possible heat-related distortion inherent in dark vinyl, and usually cost more than vinyl but less than wood. I've done two jobs so far this year with dark brown fiberglass from Pella, although there are several brands out there that offer it. |

Re: Vinyl Window HelpQuote:
I checked with Pella and they do have a dark brown fiberglass window but it is dark brown all the way thru and that will not work, need white exterior. Still have not found anything that will work although I hear Softlite will custom match interior trim. It gives me a chill to imagine how much that might cost. Also could go wood interior but expect it to be very pricey. If you guys know of anything else let me know, the customer called to ask where his estimate was and told him I was doing homework to find the right window for him. Thanks, Dave C

Re: Vinyl Window Help
What could be done is look at MILGARD windows they make a fiberglass window that has a wood veneer on the interior that can be stained to match the interior and the exterior come in diffrent colors and if i was installing these windows id use this window w/ a stucco fin and cut back the trim to fit INSIDE THE EXHISTING TRIM OF THE HOUSE then just run a colored caulking to finish it off
