Vinyl Siding Question Here
i see a few companies now offering 25 foot panels;is there any downside to using a panel that long? durability ect... forget about labor side,i am concerned about the strength and durability of such a long panel.i am looking at Alcoa/mastic and alside..
also, anyone know of any potential problems with insulated siding>?? i am wondering why the double 4 never comes in a 16 foot length but the double 6 and single 7 does??? |

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
Seems to me the biggest problem w/ a 25' panel would be transportation and handling it up a few feet in the air. I can't see there being a difference w/ durability or performance on these. Just my guess though.

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
You need two guys to install one 25' panel. Brands mentioned are good stuff.

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
are you saying no one askd for D4 and thats why its not made in a 16'? mastic/alcoa does'nt have a 16 foot panel yet..too bad,its a nice product. not sure if a 16' is that important for insulated siding due to the seams being so tight?

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
Alcoa's insulated (structure) does NOT come in 16' lengths; only quest and grand sierra.

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
expansion and contraction is the big issue. Deep DEEP Js and corners are needed. We also use a clip system that helps with the panel movment. Transport is no fun, we have a 45ft trailer to lug our 40ft siding around.

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
We liked Royal Woodland because it came in 16' lenghts. Grand Siera 16' and Cetainteed Monogram 16' are great. Napco 25' is too costly on the freight and requires a 160 sq. purchase. ABC Portland OR. had Amcraft 25' by the job but Royal stoped making it for them.
25' panels need to be center panel nailed for expansion. Wolverine used to make the HP panel in 40' lenghts but getting this to a jobsite was problematic. |

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
THE PANEL WAS ACTUALLY A GREAT IDEA(WOLVERINE) A 40 FOOT PANEL WITH FIBERGLASS REINFORCEMENT.. problem was,the installer had to manually insert the fiberglass which was no big deal; however, most were too friggin lazt to do it and it voided the warranty. so they stopped making it..alside has reinforcement in their panel but its a bit too glossy and grainy.

Re: Vinyl Siding Question Here
The Wolverine HP was .054 had a bigger nail bar but no rod. The Wolverine Benchmark .044 had a fiberglass rod that required a little strenght to cut with snips.
