Vinyl Replacement Window Brands Poll
I know windows brands have been much discussed here however I don't see much imput on Vinyl Replacement Window brands.
Specifically what product do you feel is the best value for your dollar?
Another contractor and myself have a little wager on the results so I will hold off on my vote.

Certainteed owns the brand I like the most, Pro View, and they always install nicely. Matter of fact, we use the new construction Pro Views also.

i am a little confused by anderson, pella, marvin, never heard of a vinyle replacement window put out by them, lets start of by defining vinyl replacement window, in these parts (ny) a vrw is all vinyle, no flanges, is made to be installed from the interior, after removing parting strips from original wood window. vrw rests against wood trim of exterior catching a 3/8'' or so lip. anderson, marvin and pella, make tilt packs, jams and sashes seperate, totally different install procedure. what are we talking about here?

We use Atrium vinyl windows 90% of the time. This is a very nice window with even sight lines, stainless steel rail for the vent to slide on and no ugly mull grove.
Some one told me today that 2 Marvin plants are closing down, anyone hear about that or know which ones ?

The vinyl windows I've installed have all had flanges. I've had to cut them off for old work installation.
I don't know about Weather Shield's vinyl windows, but their wood windows suck! 11 yrs & upper & lower sashes rotted through (and no sprinkler involved).

Oh boy, I've used so many different brands I don't know where to begin. Started my career installing St. James line from Hoosier. They have a dual extrusion, exterior is clad aluminum, interior vinyl. We have used Gorrell, Winstrom, Windsor, Sunrise, Tempco, Pella, American Craftsman, Crestline, Vinylcraft, Target, Hayfield, Republic, Simonton, Milgard...well you get the idea. Those are all vinyl products. I can't say that any one stands heads or tails above the others, but I have had great luck and good service from the Target brand and Winstrom. Lots of sevice issues with some of the others.
