Re: Vanmark Or Tapco

They are both good.I have 2 mark 1s and they are 15 and ten years old and still bends like new,by regular tune ups and replacing the vinyl.I recommend the vanmark mark 2 trim master contractor. The tapco is a little lighter but I do not like the way it locks, and its the same price. The jdan is a good brake to.Jrake.Just dont get the cheap lever locker on the side of the brake.

VanMark is my personal choice and has been for 25 yrs.Easy to adjust and simple to maintain.
The older 6 jaw stays in adjustment longer than the newer 5 jaw brake though.
I've used the pro2 but just can't used to the single handles.I much prefer the full handle on the VanMark.
That said,it's all about personal preference.

Both of the brakes are great and have replacement parts available. We like the 12.6 ft benders as they are longer and easyer to carry. Our 10ft and 14 ft benders are van mark. Our Tapco bendrs are 12 ft windy and 12 pro. I like the windy best for many reasons.

What is the need with a 14 or 12 bender when all u need is a 10 foot six for most applications?

less facia and rake sections = less seams = better job You can also bend 2 or 3 pieces of window trim at a time

I don't see much point in anything longer than 10ft. There bigger and heavier and aren't near as portable. I've rarely been using a brake lately though.

Re: Vanmark Or Tapco

Its true that a 12 ft brake is a little bit heavier than a 10 ft brake. The benefits of a 12 ft brake include :
1. easier for one man to carry as the brake arms are spaced to a better balance point,
2. less seams on fascia
3. can make with one piece both sides of most window wraps,
4. 12`6' x 4 = 50ft, no waste of coil

Our 14 ft brake is used when the 12` would leave to many overlaps or the openings to be wraped are taller than 6`. The 14 ft vm is placed on the trailer and used there.

We use the 10ft brake for heavier bending as it will bend light steel.

I can see why you might be better off if you do alot of windows. I might do a 100 a year tops. I don't care for doing window work.

I haven't been using my brake because I've got a huge commercial job going. All the metal is pre-bent.
