Staples For Log Siding ?
Ok, guys here is my dilema.
My uncle is building a house and we are now at the finishing stages. He has 8" cedar tongue and grove log siding coming. What would you use to fasten it ? I say stainless steel 2"-2 1/2" finish nails into the studs. My cousin says 7/16 crown stainless staples.I agree that the staples would hold better but it seems to me to be more of a pain if they don't set all of the way, misfire or the gun isn't on the tongue in the correct spot. The house is all OSB sheathing, in case your wondering. I am open to any suggestions. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bella D |

Re: Staples For Log Siding ?
Here in cabin land (Gatlinburg, TN.) they use the staples. I bet we have more cabins here in this location then any other place in the US. Whole rental communities some with 100's of cabins in them. I am not saying staples are the only way or even the best way but that is how everyone I have came in contact with are built.
