Soffit
I have an area approx 24 x 36 that I need to enclose. It is the underside of a canopy. Currently there is plywood nailed up and painted. I was think of using soffit, with 3 J-channel joints running so it would be 3 sections of 12' soffit. Any better ideas?

Textured soffit board? Do you have a link or a manufacturer or something I can look at?

H-channel
i've never heard of t channel.... H channel looks great in this type of situation. i'd chalk a bunch of lines though, otherwise if the ceiling isn't dead on square your final reveal will not be even.

It would be a lot more work but if you really want to set it off you could miter in from your corners(basically look like a flat hip roof)

I would use a 8" Pro-Bead panel with a 5/8 T-Channel and around the outside I would use a Pro-Bead J-Channel to dress it up. These are all Mastic.

A real man, (such as myself) Would make the H channel on the brake, in one piece. I do it whenever I can, Its a pride thing, and I like to show off with the coil

Ill take a picture tomorrow. I gotta think every time i go to make one, but once i do the first one, i can bang them out real quick. I use them for soffit miters cause I can make them actually 5/8" and they don't look goofy because they lay nice and flat unlike a premade vinyl one. ALSO, if you are doing colored soffit they are a lifesaver, cause sometimes you cant easily get colored H channel, and when you can its usually special order

YUP, looks just like the vinyl one but out of metal so its flatter. and the total thickness is 5/8" so it fits into the facia perfectly.
I drew you a picture of how I bend it. I want all you kids to make 5 a piece for homework. Make sure your hems are tight!

Yea, you can even make the nice and wide, like a 2" pocket so a 4" face, then it looks like its meant to be there, rather than being there because vinyl only comes in short lengths.

Exactly. I can make it match the perimeter also. It will give it some visual depth instead of just being needed, its now a detail.

These brake made trims are not for a novice and can only be made to be the length of the brake. If your not very experienced bending and hanging coil you could spend a lot of time wasting coil. In a situation where you need more than one piece the job made pieces are hard to butt together unless perfectly made.
Lineals come in lengths up to 20 ft. H bar in 12 ft lengths.
A 3 inch flat piece of coil cut the length of the soffit run and crimped for aluminum sill trim and with aluminum sill trim on the edges looks nice to cover a long soffit seam.

On returns runing soffits we made our own H channels all the time, but on a large ceiling you know the old saying. White, White and White are three different colors. Thats when we would use a T-Channel and J's to match the soffit we are using for the ceiling. On large H-Channels made with the coil the color wouldn't match like the T-Channel.
