Sills & Lineals

Im going to be installing new Andersen windows and Alcoa siding, the customer wants vinyl lineals but wants to add a window sill. I have a sample from Crane of a sill they use with their 1-1/4 system. Does anyone know if someone makes one for regular siding Alcoa doesn't seem to have anything. Or some other suggestion

The home center sell a vinyl sill nose but I can't think of how you would seam it with an Andersen sill. I have used them in the past to replace the sill nose when the have rot.

If you find something take a picture and post it or e-mail me.

What is a vinyl 'lineal'??

As far as a sill, - - just buy some Azek 6/4 X whatever and make 'em custom.

Charge accordingly, of course . . .

http://www.vinyl-siding.com/solidcor...essentials.asp Gonna use these from crane their 1-1/4 for the insulated siding so im gonna run my backer board into the J channel. Check it out they got a sill nose that goes on just like a window lineal. If Alcoa or certain teed would make these for standard siding they would be awesome for the new construction market. its pricey though about $28/ 10 footer of each piece. The nice thing is they are foam filled and the vinyl is thicker than a regular lineal.

Ok, - - I guess I'm outta the loop here, - - so it appears the term 'lineal' just means a casing or a sill or whatever with a built-in J-channel??

I'm in the process of installing 6 Anderson's down at the Jersey shore right now, - - I just make all the casings out of 5/4 X 3 Azek with a 9/16"(deep) X 3/4"(wide) rabbeted under-edge as a built in J-channel.

Gives a much cleaner look anyway, IMO . . .

IT was considered. Harvey is selling the azek trim premade all put together and it matches up with the Andersen sizing matrix comes with flat or 908 picture or sill but cost wise the vinyl lineals were cheaper. Plus we're doing a crown mold lineal on top of the window. Its just super easy to put these things together.

Sounds good Patrick, - - not really trying to question you, - - you definitely seem right on top of things, - - I just have my own (old-style) way of doing things . . .

Yea I have a die hard old school guy that works with me and he cringes every time I start using a new vinyl product. He shows up everyday with his own table saw and portable planer and lives for the days we install new doors in old houses and he gets to cut shims and odd size trim and jamb extensions
