siding over wood siding

I have a couple of jobs to put a bid in for-one has wood siding w/ insulated foam board underneath (not sure if plywood/osb under that-assume not ??). What is the standard method to deal with this-rip off and apply osb to studs or foam board over existing wood siding, then hang siding?
thanks!
