Re: Siding Labor Rates
Is the mid america cheaper?
I've always used the fypon and never thought about looking elsewhere for the stuff. I'd say you have siding and trim pretty well mastered. Good to see others out there raising the bar. Most...Well you know... If you could just get you soffit to lay a little flatter in your channel I'd hire you to do my siding. |

Re: Siding Labor Rates
Dont judge us on that house, the house had been moved 4 miles, and has a nasty lean in it. You could place a marble on the floor inside the front door, and it would roll right out the back door. It was so bad they had shims under some of their furniture.

Thats the only set I have that doesn't have them. If you notice the second pole with the rope, is a 36' pole it was fun putting that up hence the rope

Re: Siding Labor Rates
The going rate is what ever you make it.
My father in law wanted me to reroof his garage. I told him I'd do it for free on the weekend if he covered my material costs. $500 is all I asked for he damned near shat his pants, that's a $1,250 roof. I pay my subs $85 to install on new construction, +$25 for tyvek and +25 for fanfold and +35 to tear vinyl or aluminum and +$50 to tear wood or asphalt. All said and done you're looking realistically a minimum of $150 plus materials, however you'll probably be closer to $175. Now don't forget all the accessories. Window cladding $25 per window plus materials, soffit and fascia $3 a foot plus materials. etc... Also don't forget dumpster and permit. Now the question is what would "I" charge, add 50% to all those labor rates... and don't forget to mark up your materials 50% as well. Why not ask your father in law to get some other estimates BEFORE you give him your price. If you really want to give him a deal, match the lowest price assuming you can. But at least you'll have 3 or 4 estimates in writing from legitimate compeitors. Knowledge is power, the information you gather from those estimates will be in-valuable. If he's getting something out of it, so should you! (Well besides his daughter) BTW normally I would never dare say "match the lowest price" but with it being your in law... I understand.
