You said it, some jack-ass framer on another thread called himself a carpenter.

INTERIOR SIDING! no more painting, that'll get rid of them.

Man, do I hear that! I had to fire my GC some time back as his business slowly subsided beneath the water despite my not pressing him for the few thousand he owed me. Been spending nearly as much time working up quotes as anything else ever since. I hate it.

There is always a downside to every scenario. I don't have a crew anymore to generate income, I am a one man show. When I am down, production stops. I have, however been priveleged to work on some very nice projects in the last few years, where the end product is more important than the final bill. I have always charged a fair price and have done every job to my best ability. Here is a garage door package that I did in Azek recently.

Re: The Siding Chronicles.

No crew isn't necessarily a downside. That's a whole lot of headaches and paperwork you don't have. And as long as you're making decent money (and you'd better be, if your pics are any guide), you should be able to afford a little down time now and then. I just hope you're able to salt some of that away in an IRA or similar--way too many in this industry reach retirement age with no choice but to go on working.

Anyhow, what would it cost me to come be your apprentice?

Nice wording, but it equates to "how much" BTW, my ex gets all my retirement money.

OK, I've been milking this out after work. Got the Azek wrapped up on the house. Now I have to do something with the mechanicals closet.

Re: The Siding Chronicles.

Beaded soffit will do for now, until I get some leftover sheet goods to panelize the gables. MJW asked about the certainteed lineals earlier on in the thread as far as mitering. This is about the best I've been able to do with them.

At this point in time, I'm probably going to paint it, maybe dress up the windows and corners with some Azek as well. Cultured stone would be my first choice, but not in the budget.
