Why would a detached garage have parapet walls anyway?

To match the office next to it before it had the second floor on it and became a house. In the future, I'd like to do a second floor within a gabled roof with a couple shed dormers, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Hmmm, hadn't thought about that one Tom. Maybe about a 6" kick at the bottom with a frieze and crown detail.

Well, glued and Tapconed some 3/4 treated plywood onto the parapet wall to flush it up with the sheathing, papered and ran the rest of the siding up. Put the packer on for the Azek, which will drop onto the siding by an inch to counterflash it. Another packer will go up to clear the top of the coping with an Azek trimboard to finish out the wall, then a metal cap will go over the coping to seal the deal.
Next Sunday, the Azek trim gets started.

Looks good lone.

I would have framed out the entry door garage imprint so looked like there never was a garage door there though.

That thought crossed my mind, but I thought the single door arch would get lost in the wall. Besides, it gives me the option to open up that second bay if I desire to without a major redo. When my kids move on to college, their gameroom becomes my woodshop.

Thanks Dave, I think when I get the stacked 1x10s up with all the rest of the trim, it will have a nice look. What's nice about Azek is you can build up and stack mouldings to really create some dimension without worry of trapping moisture and decay. When complete, the corners will have a recessed panel design with a nice base and capital detail.

Yep, always another project in line on this place. The siding was the big one and I'll be glad to get it checked off of the list.
I think a little yardwork is in order and then a summer blowout BBQ. Glad to hear you've gotten some time in on your own project. Howsabout a few pics man?

Yeah, I don't know if I could deal with all the critics slamming my workmanship, maybe a public venue would be more appropriate. Besides, I'd have to keep one eye on Neo to make sure he doesn't cut a quarter moon into my closet door while I'm preoccupied.

It is what it is. I got la few Fawk nail it in my house. In 5 years I am going to rip it out and do it over again anyway.

There are 15-20 things on my house that are done wrong or could be better but I know the biotch isn't going to cave in or catch on fire.

I will redo it when I have time.

Looks good from your house right?

The house I live in was suppose to be a flip. I trained 2 new guys how to build from the ground up and how to remodel here. I let them do a lot of the work with one of my lead carpenters teaching them things.

The house looks good to the average joe. But there are a few things that drive me crazy. The structure is sound and most of the goofs are cosmetic. I will get around to them someday
