I used to know someone who worked at a Home Depot.He told me that H.D and Lowes has national purchasing reps that go to the manufactuers
and negotiate thier prices. Hypothetically :They go to Delta and say we want to buy a half million model 691 faucets but we only want to
pay 50. dollars per facuet. Now the manufactuer has a choice sell a half million facuets, or say no.
So the only way they can do it and make money is to make it cheaper.
Thinner metal, cheaper parts etc.

When I sell Therma-Tru I always make sure the homeowner knows that they are a national company that sell their parts to local fabricators. Depending on who the local fabricator is, significantly impacts the quality of the product. I always make sure my Therma-Tru doors are assembled at Andersen Logistics. The Andersen name goes a long way.....
