Replacing On A Glass Pane--some Help

how much would it cost for a window glazer to remove glass and install a new glass pane we have the new glass pane but the manufacturer is taking a year and a day to come and fix it. i feel bad for the home owner and might just have a local guy do it. how much do they usually charge. its about a 26 x 40.

Are you asking about single pane or duo?

The single panes we do ourselves, pick up glass cut to size at hardware store and r&r the broken piece. Few bucks for the glass, 15-20 mins. to install.

The duo's we take to a glass shop. Usually around 75-100 bucks for them to install new glass in the sash. They don't do the lowE and argon though.

Good Luck

$50 to $150 depending on the job quality. For example, are they going to prime the wood first? Are they going to bed with acrylic glazing, then go on top with oil? Are they going to come back a couple weeks later to prime and paint it?

26 x 40? a single sash? When you say "manufacturer" this doesn't sound like a glazing putty job, Is the sash removable? Can one be ordered? Can you close up the opening with iso board and osb and take the sash with you to a glazier?

Manufacturer name or Brand of window may help out a lot for an answer to this one. How old is the window? Gives us an idea of how it was assembled...

Picture may help too...

Who did you get the glass from? Why can't they install it for you?

My bet is that it is a warranty replacement pane. Stress crack or seal failure, the company backed up their product by sending replacement parts and now Davinci gets to install it at his expense.

One of my pet peeves is how it cost us more than the manufacturer to have them warranty a product.

Good Luck

Yeah. Usually there is some sort of a vinyl retainer strip that is holding the glass in place along with a caulk. If you can post a few photos inside and out somebody could walk you through it.
