Replacing Aluminum Siding With Stucco?

I have some general questions about what we plan to do with our recently purchased bungalow. I realize that I don't have a lot of the details as we don't move in until the 27th of March but I am doing some pre-planning now. So, any help or advice provided will be more info than I have currently

Currently, the bungalow has aluminum siding as does the detached garage. We are planning on adding on to the house by either expanding up and over the garage or moving the garage and putting the addition part of the way to where the garage is currently. We haven't decided if the addition will be straight out and on the same level as the current house or if we will have the addition raised, making the house a side split.

Anyway, on to my questions... Once the addition is on, I know we will have to either re-side the existing house with new siding or something else. My girlfriend likes the look of a stucco finish. I know that no one here can give me specific prices but I was wondering if I could get ball park ideas on the differences in pricing between each of the options? i.e. vinyl siding is half the price of stucco or stucco is 1/2 the price of vinyl. Also, if we were to get the entire new structure bricked, how does that compare price wise. Are there any other cladding alternatives to be considered?

I know I can't tell anyone what the condition of the current sheathing is or anything like that but regardless, I would have to make any of those repairs regardless of what it is being clad with. Also, access to the entire perimeter of the house is easily accessible on all sides (it's a corner lot) - if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help

Well, im not sure of the going rate of traditional stucco, however if you go with an EIFS system you will be looking at around $6-7 a square foot.

Thanks for the info Bush. Seeing as you are in a different area than me, can you tell me what the cost difference is for vinyl siding - higher/lower than the $6-$7 sq. ft.?

Vynil around here can be done for around half the price of EIFS. The prices in order from lowest to highest around this area are generally Vynil, EIFS, Brick/Stone. Hope this helps a bit.

It does help Bush. I know that prices vary from country to country and area to area. I just wanted to have a little background info before I start the quoting process. A lot will end up depending on how big an addition we build and the square footage of the area to be sided.
