old wooden patio door

i have a homeowner that i am doing some remodeling for. They have an old (20 years) wooden patio door. It is has some water damages on the out side and in the summer time the can not open the door it is solid wood. so i am trying to get them in to like a aluminum clad patio door. But they want to to stay with a soild wood one. what are the pros and cons to the doors or should we try and fix the old one becuse we have alot of work in the kitchen and other parts of the house. Just looking for a lil help.

solid wood?

Is your customer looking for wood outside also? Anderson has nice wood interiors white clad outside. Easy to install, no call backs either. Pella are most difficult (weigh a ton) least likely to please customer,(the screen is inside the house) most call backs for me. Repairing a rotten junk door is foolish. You'll be in the loop for its death, How many call backs are you willing to do for free? good luck MIKE P.S. Where are you?How long have you been in the biz?

Unless the door is something special, making it worth repairing, they make wooden patio doors in a few varieties still today. A door that's only 20 years old is probably just like the one's they're still making. They're stock at the lumber yard I use .
