Old dutch lap/german lap

Where can I find wood dutch lap siding at these days, I can get the regular clear cedar, when I can afford it($289/sq), just wondering if you guys know where it can be found. Have some to replace on the back side of my house. The rest of the siding is clear cedar (actually I think it is mostly poplar) but the cedar is readily available right down the street. Just curious, maybe if it too hard to find I can replace it to match the rest of the house.

Any help would be sweeeeeeet!

I needed some a few years ago to redo the side of a cottage. My buddy made it for me in his shop, it was a dead on match to the original

I got a sweet deal on a stack of it from a closed down old time lumber store-have used some for the undersiding of a sunroom (upside down) and the finished product turned out really nice. it had been sitting on the shelves for many, many years-good luck finding something.

if you can find a small cabinet shop/woodworker in your area, he should be able to make it to spec.

My best friend has a shaper, my other friend runs a production mill work company, I just hate asking for favors, they always are soooo busy, I dont like to wait forever. if I can get the stock I could mill it. It is wierd though, it is a double 2 1/2", 5 1/4" over all with grove on bottom side and rabbited on top. It looks like a nightmare to fix.

There's a couple of the lumber yards around here that will just make you a batch. Seems like the better lumber yards have a molding/planing shop. I know a few carpenters that have even had to have the lumber yard get a special set of knives made up to match special things, and it wasn't at all expensive. Seems like they've pretty much always got the cutters anyhow, since they've undoubtedly had to match it up in the past.

if i had to get it here in NJ i would try Millhurst Mills near Freehold. they got all kinds of old stuff there. Or had. I think its an Ace Hardware now though. They may have cleaned out there old stock. They used to have monthly building material auctions there but i never went to one.

I think now it might be easier to take the lap down and re-side with clear cedar to match the rest of house. Lap is only on the kitchen section of house, which used to be the back porch. Before kitchens were all the rage.

even the clear cedar is seriously expensive, somethign like 275 square with my reveal.
