New Double door fiberglass install.

I recently installed this unit and it's nicely caulked with no holes. It'a already painted and I see no signs where water could infiltrate the stucco.

I have found two leaking spots in the corners of the threshold. I filled them up with caulk. Today after heavy rain and heavy wind the customer called to say it's leaking again. This time in the middle too.

Is this typical and what can I do to prevent the leaks. I do not think any of it is coming from within the bucking and jamb.

Had the same happen once. Mfgr sent a rep, and it turned out to be a faulty door. Mfgr replaced it at no charge.

Same here...the door leaked where the window contacted the door...they sent a guy from Virgina to Connecticut to fix it......I told them just send me a new door and I would just swap them...nope, they insisted on sending a guy.

I also had a similar problem once but it was a very small leak. Manufacturer replaced the door.

I I would use clear silicone to seal all gaps between door sill and threshold and jamb legs (not much and very neat). Some manufacturers will have you do that as part of the install. I'm talking about the joints where the unit is assembled, not anything to do with your installation. Also, could be where you installed plate for bottom slide bolt. You are supposed to caulk any holes you made there as well.

good luck.

Did you install the corner jamb seal pads?
Also not sure what brand you got but Pella double doors are notorious for having the weatherstrip in the astragal too short. I always ask for spare piece of weatherstrip when I order Pella double doors.

I've caulked the crap out of the unit. I think I'll give it a little more. There is no leaks from around the jamb it's sealed up great with caulk and paint. I took a cup of water and poured it into the corner with the adjustable part of the jamb meets the weather stripping and water did work it's way into the house. Knowing that was happening and not having caulk the customer said he would caulk the corners up. I did the initial caulking of the edges but later raised the sill opening a small hole.

Just had a rep in and he pretty much told me that on a 8' inswing and a heavy rain a little leakage should be expected. We are talking about a thimble of water that makes it in.

Yeah, 8'? Six foot double door with 2 12" sidelights? I can't imagine 2 four foot door slabs in a residential house.
