wow, this is vague, what kind of replacement? tear out or just into the existing frames?
what kind of window/door will you use?
you need to price your materials (windows, caulk, coil etc) , your labor, all job related expenses and decide how much you feel the job is worth for you to do it? do you need to be competitve against other bids?

$25 per window should cover install and overhead. Did you tell the homeowner you were going to have to check the online message boards to see how much to charge before you could give an estimate? How could someone online possibly tell you how much YOU need to charge to turn a profit??? Thats no better than the homeowner that claims to be an expert cause they read some website or talked to some minimum wage clerk at a store

If you search the board the base method is outlined everywhere, cost of materials, markup, labor & overhead. What works for one person doesn't work for everyone. If you cant figure that out then your not the one that should be calling people names

I must of missed this one. I read the first post 3 times in order to see what entitled him to call you an ***edit, I hate name calling.
To the original poster:
In your trade (windows) people sell their "package" for $150-$1500. These figures excludes high end wood products and products from the scrap yard.
There is no such thing as price or the "going price" or the "average price". Price=value. Figure what level products and workmanship you will deliver and set your price.
In your area a homeowner can buy windows at the Home depoot and pay one of the guys in the parking lot $5 each to install them, do you offer a better product or a better service?
BTW, this forum can help you grow your business....unless you call the members idiots. Patrick has his stuff together and comes on here to tweak his business like the rest of us.

Idiots....Morons....Dolts....you are all wrong, fools...
There is a source for the "Going Rate". There is a reliable place to get the exact price of what a particular job should cost.
And it's right here on good ol' Contractor Talk.
Simply go here, and all your questions will be answered Original Poster from Miami with bad grammer skills.
Good luck

The problem is, For instance Dougchips and I operate on opposite ends of the same small state and prices on identical products installed with a fairly comparable level of craftsmanship are drastically different. For several reasons IE what people are willing to pay, Local incomes, Living expenses, varied overhead and intense competition with low ball "contractors"

Windows Estimate
Fifty five percent above list on the material should cover your material and installation, or just figure 3x's your cost of material. This is an average in California
