Need Fast And Efficient Method For Shingles

Hey everyone,

we don't do alot of cedar shingle siding. But this job is a big one with lots of dormers.

The look we want is no outside corner trims. I would like to have alternating butt joints on the outside corners. My guys have found it slow to tapter the shingles to match perfectly. I personally havn't done this way before. Is there a fast and efficeint method for cotting these to fit .

We are using urethane glue and pin nails to assemble.

Thanks for all the efforts!!

BB

Run the corners first and then the walls.

Yup, run between your corners. Install a left side, then scribe the right side to fit, install a right side, and scribe a left side to fit etc etc etc so on up the wall.

Fine homebuilding's siding and trim book has a good article on it. However they fail to discuss how to handle gable walls, and rooflines

The glue is going to cause every one of the corner shingles to crack in my opinion. when nailed or stapled properly they should sit very tight. I think this guy is actually trying to miter the corner shingles

"This guy" was only exploring every avenue .....as I do with all our jobs.

We did not glue each corner ..... but I did consider it.

Tough job since we can't actually fit between the dormers.........seven in a row.
