Need Advise On Wrapping Wdw And Weep Holes
I have some reflection 5500 windows and I'm wrapping them with Azex using 4" on the sides and top and 'historic sill' on the bottom. While fitting the sill on the bottom, I would have to leave room for the weep holes, but the finished look would not be as attractive as holding the Azek sill tight to the windows sill-if mounted below the weep holes there would be a ~3/8" gap.
anyone done this or have options? I thought about mounting the Azek sill tight against the window sill which would block the weep holes but use a router (or do by hand) a channel for the water to travel down the back side of the Azek, then use flashing to allow the water to roll over the top of the vinyl siding below (all hidden by additional Azek trim board. Would love to hear any other options or feedback if the above method seems logical. How much water comes out the weep holes? Does the water only come from the inside sash? |

Re: Need Advise On Wrapping Wdw And Weep Holes
The weep holes are a functional part of the window and should not be covered. The weep hole let out water that enters the frame. Covering the weep holes would result in water accumulating in the bottom frame every time it rains. In colder climates this could cause the frame to blowout if the water freezes and expands.

solved-I made a channel as described in the original post and the water will run behind the Azek and down over the vinyl panel.
