Low Cost Soffit Alternative

I'm getting Alcoa ProTec solid triple 4" for $83/sq. Being used as a patio soffit-connector spacing is 2'OC-any input on whether the Alcoa Universal (slightly thinner) would fare well in the long term? what's the Universal going for?

the problem with the thinner products if they dont span as far as the more ridged panels if you want to use a thiner panel maybe cut your span down using blocking

2' should be no problem. Long spans would be an issue without blocking.

What is a patio soffit connector?

I'd never span my soffit 2' without blocking. 20" max.

I see to many problems with blow offs or sags.

that probably should have read patio soffit with the connections held up at 2'OC. I'm happy w/ myself for finding a closeout on large headed durarock style screws for next to nothing-makes installation overhead a snap. Big question was would the thinner Universal be ok at 2'OC hoizontal nailing pattern versus the 5/8" Pro which I'm currently putting up at 2'OC. the blocking is the big deal-each piece has to be installed w/ carriage bolts overhead to steel C beams...24"oc vs 16"oc is more labor than the cost of the material upgrade.
