Lap On Hardi Siding

Have client that want me to lap hardi plank siding at ~2 3/4 exposed so it matches lap siding spacing o the other sides of the house. There are corner board between old and new so they dont actually need to mesh. Jsut want lines that look ok.

Anyone have problems with doing that much overlap on cement board siding?

Yea, depends on what you have for cornerboards and casings. Make sure your siding butts don't stick out past the trim!!!! may have to switch to 5/4" cornerboards and rake trims

This wont work with a 8.25 plank. You might be able to rip the plank to 4.00 and expose the 2.75 with the riped side as the blind nail side. You would have to seal your cut. We haven't done this so let us know how it works out.

I've ripped them in half and done something similar to what you needing to do. It worked fine. Wall started at 10" reveal and by the time we got to the top it was at 3". Looked pretty cool because it was a small pool house.
