Jeld-Wen Windows

Client wants to specify Jeld-Wen Premium Clad Casement windows. This is for new construction. Has anyone had experience with these in new construction? Are these quality windows?

Dave, Jeld-wen spends a mint on nice ads with beautiful pictures. I have used their products on a few projects and was not impressed with the quality. If my memory serves me correct, the cladding was not done correctly on a couple of their doors and would allow water to drain into the wood core area. Take a look at their displays at your home centers or local lumber yards and see if the actually product looks as good in person as it does in the pictures.

Jeld-Wen

Doug, I looked at the Jeld-Wen today and I'm glad you warned me. The quality of workmanship was the poorest I've seen in a wood clad window. I have recommended the client look elsewhere. Pella and Colby & Colby are big here in Colorado Springs.

Thanks for the input.

I like Pella for new construction windows, stay away from their vinyl windows.

PGT and Anderson seem to be the most popular here.

Andersen spends a lot of money on marketing. People use them because of the branding.

Unless secified by architect or client, I dont touch jed wen or premdor, the costumer relations are terrible. Jeldwen still owe me over £600 from over a year ago now and premdor still havent delivered doors, from september time, which leaves me with doors in my workshop because the client doesnt want them until I have them all.
