How many windows needed for new construction?

Hello. I am putting an addition on the back of my house and I was wondering if code will allow me to put just one window in a small bedroom? Also by putting the addition in the back it eliminates an exisiting window which would leave me with only one window in another bedroom. Will this pass code or do I needed to add at least two windows per a room? Thanks!!!

Call your local building department, that is the only way you can be sure you are designing the addition properly

Doesn't matter if you have one window or ten windows in a room, as long as one of them meets the minimum egress opening size.

International Building Code requires one egress window with minimum of 5.7 sq. ft of net clear opening area, 24 inches of net openable height, 20 inches net openable width and a finished sill height not more than 44 inches above the floor.
The code changes for manufactured homes to 36 inch sill height.

The egress is to provide a emergency worker such as a fireman enough room to get into the room with gear on. The minumun size would be a 48 x 48 xo slider.
