"Going Rate" for any contractor is the max. rate he figured he can charge with doing a good job and staying competitive. Can't use that "going rate" if doing a job that you don't normally do. So in that case you always have to add it up like everyone else said. Materials + est. man hrs @ hourly rate to make a living.

BTW, is it just me or are those estimate books and home cheapo completely off?

Yeah, and I can tell you this. We had a photographer on our site following one of our coworkers around for days once. The guy ended up in the FOR PROS BY PROS - TRIMWORK edition, available now.Hes a talented guy but not necessarily the authority of the trade.

For me, I would charge about $2,800. to $3,000. not seeing it.

If it's not to complicated 4.50 for the siding and fascia. 6.50+ ish for the capping. I don't know why everyone is giving such attitude.
