Help With Name Of This Insulation---


what is the name of that old insulation board on the older homes? its like a bulletin board type material or the material a bottle cork is made of.

is that the same stuff they used in the 1950's? do they still use it today? why would they still use it ?

Around here mostly on gable ends
of attics, and unheated garages.

came out in the early 1900's, its just called fiber board. you can put siding directly over it. however, you cannot use vinyl cedar shakes directly over it since it needs to be center nailed. need to throw on some OSB for that.
