Harvey "Tribute" window
this is their top of the line triple pane.it has that feature that is a lock and tilt latch all in one. also krypton, double strength glass/double lowE and that UV protector that also is a self cleaning window..
i am now selling HARVEY AS A SECONDARY WINDOW TO MY MORE EXPENSIVE WINDOW. is this tribute a good window? i also don;t want to canibalize the one i sell for 700 bucks installed.

All Harvey did by coming out with the tribute window, was dump a low cost triple pane window onto the market, that all the hacks are gonna sell for $350

its a decent window, not a fan of the way they sell it to anyone off the street. I do know there were some issues with scratches between the panes that they had to go out and replace on a few orders. I have a sample in the shop. The whole self cleaning glass thing is a bunch of BS its just a sales pitch. It may stay cleaner, but its not going to remove dirt from the glass.

i agree with the self clean, not worth the extra money, many higher end window companies offer such a feature. all in all its better than builders grade,i think Harvey is a good window for the money. well constructed, looks nice, and seems to maintain their effectiveness.
i think you have a gripe with HARVEY SELLING TO ANY TOM DICK OR HARRY THAT WANTS A WINDOW. I can certainly understand that. in fact, thats why i offer harvey as a secondary window, they have one warehouse here and only contractors shop there,no consumers. plus its not a ubiquitous window as opposed to where you are.

I think there are a lot of better triple pane windows made for a lot less money than the tribute. Alside and Thermal Industries both make a triple pane for at least $50 less and both have a better u-value

"Self cleaning" windows have a layer of titanium dioxide on the glass which results in a surface that is both photocatalytic and hydrophilic.
Photocatalytic means that UV rays from the sun break down organic molecules on the glass and hydrophilic means that that glass "attracts" water which makes it slippery and water sheets off carrying dirt with it. Contrast with products such as "Rain-X" which are hydrophobic - or water repellant.
All of the major glass companies have versions of this product, and while some companies (Pilkington, PPG for example) refer to it as self cleaning, others (Cardinal, Guardian for example) refer to it as easy cleaning rather than as self cleaning.
Either way, the product does work as advertised, but one can argue if it is worth extra cost depending on the window customer's perception of the product. As enforcer mentioned previously, there are companies that offer it as standard at no extra cost and not as an upgrade.
The coating does not offer any additional thermal or UV-blocking benefit however.

Harvey Tribute Window
The Harvey Tribute Window is actually a very good window. We just completed an Energy Star home and they performed very well. You guys really should give Harvey a shot instead of blowing off the name before you've tried the windows. My customers love them, the Energy Star rater was very impressed and I love their customer service.
I wrote a review of them on my website if you care to read more. I can't post it here until I've posted 15 times in this forum.

Its definitely an upgraded window. If all you want is triple pane, look for a Harvey specialty dealer in your area, they can offer you their regency window which is a Harvey Classic Double Hung with triple pane glass in it We are giving away free triple pane upgrades as a spring promotion on the classic

Its honestly not a big difference. What I tell people, is the savings between double and triple, is not as much as the drastic savings between what you have now and ANY type of new window. BUT, the Regency/ Classic is a good way to go cause you can pick up the triple pane as a freebie.
Where in New England are you?
