Framing Gun For Fiber Cement Siding?

I just realized yesterday that the fancy-shmancy drive-depth thingy on my new Bostitch framing gun will work for fiber cement lap siding, as long as I'm careful about the nail placement. I saw on an earlier thread that I need to be careful about using fasteners that won't rust and run down, but other than that, and the fact that the 2" nails it shoots (minimum length for the gun) are probably overkill, is there anything else I should be aware of, that might make it a bad idea?

dan

i just got finished installing fiber cement siding and i used my dewalt framer. used 8d galvies, turned the regulator down and adjusted my depth gage on the gun and made certain i shot the nail at least 1" down and inta a stud. our other guns where duo-fast that shot roofing-like coil nails called for by hardi board...same results with a little careful planning

Stainless nails will cost your customer a little more and they generally don't rust.
