Flashing Board and Batten

Hi everyone. I have a job replacing several windows on a board and batten with horizontal furring over plywood sheathing. No head flashing on existing wood windows, 1 by six trim, just caulk. Owner wants vinyl or fiberglass windows with 2 by 6 trim. I have mostly used flanged windows but was thinking a replacement window would be better here. I will be removing the siding but was wondering how you guys flash these things. Can you suggest any tips or websites on proper flashing? Flashing the head trim is going to be a problem and I am wondering if about the pros/cons of setting the jamb flush to the plywood siding or to the furring strips. Thanks.

why would you use a replacement window instead of a new cons window with molded flange?

You can buy prebent flashing ( 3/4", 1", 1-1/8", 1-5/16" ) at the lumber yard in different colors. Or make your own.

If it's a flanged window (Andersen Permashield) Install the window to the sheathing with Vycor (ice & water) like you normally would, then apply the wooden casing and flash the head casing to the vertical, B&B. Make the casing 1-1/4"+ so the B&B has a shoulder to die into.
