Fiber Cement Siding Paint
I have a question about how paint will hold-up to fiber cement siding over many years? For Instance, will the siding need to be scraped and sanded down like you might have to do on old wood siding?
My main concern, is about having to create unhealthy dust to prep for future paint jobs. Anyone else curious? |

Re: Fiber Cement Siding Paint
Use soild color stains, similiar to the ones you would use on cedar. Don't use paints. The stain is much more fluid than paint and will soak into the fibercement materil much much better. Stain is the product the manufacturers use when pre-finishing.
I know this not because I am a painter but because we install a fiar bit of pre-stained fibercement and wood sidings. Would you need to scrape? No. Stain doesn't peel or flake like paint does. |
