Delaminated Perma-shield Finish

Any one find a repair technique to repair delaminated perma-shield finish on anderson sliders? I was thinking about cutting off the damaged coating, apply caulk to seal the edge of the cut, and just painting the base wood, but was thinking that there must be a better way
