Curved windows Im finnally stumped
Im talkin about a single 10' wide window that is layed out on a curve looks like a window that was bent horizontally in the shape of a banana. I always see them every once in a while, and say "man that would suck to replace" Anyways, I now have a customer with one, and they are madly in love with it. However it is totally rotten beyond repair. Does anyone make this type of window? im searching for a pic right now

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for Patrick, but an upscale renovaton of a victorian was completed with new windows and the original curved windows were replaced with straight with nice trimwork so as it wasn't terribly noticable, unless you know what to look for. 10' is a monstorous window-is it a single piece of glass or multiple sashes?

I cant find a picture on google so I drew one. It is a one piece wood frame with individual panes of curved glass. The wall of the house above and below the window are curved too. they want vinyl siding too!!! im thinkin shakes is the only way to go on that part. may just have to go with a regular bow window, going to have to get a custom angle though

Man, I think I'll stick to something simple. Like designing and installing a high end, high tech radiant floor system.
Best of luck to you! I just had to comment to say I respect you for tackling this.

Thanks Thanks.... We are trying to differentiate ourselves as sticking with the higher end siding jobs. We want to do older historical homes, and make them look as historical as possible, with as little maintenance as possible. We were chosen to do another home thats 120 years old just because of the way we are able to reproduce old details with aluminum and vinyl products
Ok so, Im thinkin were just gonna order a 10' wide vinyl dead lite picture window, and suspend it over a camp fire wait till it heats up and bend it over an oil drum. Will that work? Also does anyone know the going rate for that, or the per square price for that?

Heh, heh,Heh!
Was this originally a "shingle style"?
I've been thinking, and that's the only
time aI can remember that type of
window arrangement.

I know for a fact that one of the windows in that first picture cost about 3 grand. I could only imagine what one like you drew would cost.

Marvin does radius glazing. They also do 90deg glazing. I wouldn't want to even guess what that monster would cost though.

They are on the other end of the state. I have heard of them as they do a lot of state work, and BIG BIG jobs. They are the people that are gonna do the city library or town hall, gennerally they wont be doing grandmas house on elm street.
