Counter Salesman
How much of a joke is it that these counter guys make a comission on your sales. You get rated by the volume you purchase. I always use 3 different suppliers to keep costs honest and you always notice one place gives you competetive sq pricing then kill you the small ticket items. The fact that they call themselves sales rep is funny. I have to sell whatever they push and anytime there is accessory products that are not on a shelf it is a guarantee nightmare for mis ordering or something. Then what do you get compensated when it was do to come in next thursday and it comes in late and a different color. Hahahah.

Re: Counter Salesman
any competant supplier should be able to bring a special item in no problem. So long as there is clear communication on both sides. It is not unreasonable to ask to be compensated if their mistake set you back a week either. As far a commishion goes, for inside folks it is more of an incentive, their income is usually not based on it.

Re: Counter Salesman
Every order for years I place is pretty standard. I encourage customers to go with a white or brown trim cause colors create nightmares. For example: if customer wants Certinteed or Crane or Alcoa and they go on line and see special light blocks, cornice moulding, window casing etc... they want a particular color and guarranteed some of these materials need to be ordered. The customer wants almond well then the blocks you need are sold by Mid America only has tan for a color match. Your local gutter has herringbone for its color match. These orders can hold up jobs for weeks and then if wrong forget it. Drives me crazy---to many options and too much info for the average customer these days.

Re: Counter Salesman
Hmm, understand the concern. Mid america is great to me, no supplier should wait more than a few days for any item like blocks or shutters. Gutters to match can be tricky.
I agree the overwhelming number of options can be a burden. However, going the extra mile can be rewarding both for me to the contractor, and the contractor to the homeowner. |
