Not necessarily. If it gets cold enough outside then the inner pane of glass can definitely get below freezing allowing ice to form on the edge of the glass or on the edge of the frame. Obviously a leak that would allow cold air into the home could make this situation worse, and checking for leaks is a very good idea, but even a tight window without leaks can still freeze given the right set of circumstances. As LennyV noted, it is generally worse when aluminum is involved. |
