Question

Which To Choose, Hardiplank, Weatherboard

I am going to be building a house and want to use a cement board siding. What is the best product on the market and why?

Weatherboard. Better looking wood grain. Better warranty.

Hardiplank is no question a better product, Certainteed tends to crack and shrink due in my opionion, to the use of "pot ash".

Also, Weatherboards woodgrain is cheap looking in my opionion.

Go with Hardie XLD trim, it is flat out the best trim on the market.

Below is a picture of 3 month old Certainteed weatherboards, the home owner is having certainteed pay to remove and install Hardiplank

No way! I've heard it time and time again. Hands down most people like the weatherboards grain over the hardie any day.

I don't think any cement siding looks good. probably because I have always lived in brick homes and brick homes remind me of mom's cooking

I personally think masonry is the best route. Good looking and when done as more than just a face brick it's a better product. It's also costly when your home is constructed entirely of brick for the exterior walls.
